Studio Zubaa

Studio Zubaa is an animation development studio and creative incubator based in Kenya. Cofounders Kahenya and Max have combined experience with the BBC, BBC Studios in series development, Fye Network, and a Pixar co-op development program as a visual development artist, and together, they started Studio Zubaa in 2023 to bring experience to Kenya, the next frontier of the animation industry.

Visual Development Artist

As the first and only in-house Visual Development Artist at BBC Studios K&F, I play a key role in shaping the visual identity of animated and live-action series, with a strong focus on designing compelling pitch bibles that bring concepts to life. Working closely with producers, I’ve contributed to the visual development of 25+ projects in the past year, helping to refine and sell ideas through striking visual storytelling. My key responsibilities include:

•Crafting industry-standard pitch bibles and series bibles that drive the creative vision from concept to pitch.
•Designing character and environment concept art that defines the look and feel of animated series.

From 2022 -2024 i was a development producer at Fye Network Animation. I personally oversaw development of original IP and the launch of FyeN studios, an internal animation development studio.

Nyuso (2022)

Confronted with Africa at every corner, Planting the seed of culture in vain, a world on fire, being African outside of Africa. Nyuso explores the relationship between Africa and the African diaspora.
